Here is a video recording of a live performance by Laura of Beethoven's 'Pathètique' Sonata at St Leonards Music Auditorium in St Andrews on 11th April 2017. It formed the opening piece in a recital which she first gave in the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall in February. Watch inspirational performances by outstanding young performers from the Royal College of Music whilst enjoying a hot drink and a pastry. Scottish pianist Laura Newey began learning the instrument at 6 years old, reaching Diploma standard in the instrument by the age of 10. Laura is the current holder of the McKenzie Johnston Award for the best young musician in Scotland from Awards for Young Musicians, and also won a composer’s residency with the National Youth Orchestra last year. Her works have been performed at Somerset House, the Barbican and the Royal College of Music.
